Institutionalised Inequalities in the Educational System

My research on inequalities deals mainly with the question of how institutions and processes of education (can) contribute to equal opportunities and justice and/or promote social differentiation for example by elitist education or by enhancing excellence.

Starting from this key question I work on learning careers, socialisation processes and institutional reforms particularly at school, university and continuing education.

Currently my research focuses on theoretical and empirical studies on academic careers with a comparison between the disciplines and the sexes.
